One of the toughest things we ever have to deal with is the fact that while God is gracious, there are consequences for our words and deeds.
Yes, God is gracious, but there are things that we wrestle with as a consequence for the words we’ve spoken and the deeds we’ve done.
The grace is that we are still here. The grace is that as we remain, we have the capacity to learn from and grow forward from these consequences. The choice is ours.
As we are confronted with circumstances today, let’s rightly remember our past. Let’s confess our faults and failures. Let’s acknowledge our complicity to our circumstances. Let’s receive grace even through consequences and learn to be and do better…
Let’s resist the urge to rewrite the uncomfortable parts of our personal and shared pasts… Let’s remember rightly, so we can heal…
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
