Scripture:

The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by Elijah.

1 Kings 17:16

Reflection:

When we base our vision on an economy rooted in an illusion of lack, we diminish our ability to truly encounter the abundance of God’s grace.

When we limit ourselves to our singular abilities- we relegate ourselves to scarcity.  When we limit ourselves to only what we are able to accomplish on our own – we do ourselves and those around us a disservice.  We diminish our connectedness – our ability to be blessed and be a blessing.

But, when we remove the invisible barriers that impose scarcity and limitations, we will find a broad and generous space where we realize the grace of God.

The jar and the jug – neither will become empty.  These are resources but they are not the Source of our supply!

When we realize this truth – we are more inclined to trust God and share with others.

Remember the proverb says, ‘whoever is generous to the poor, lends to God who will repay…’ (Proverbs 19:17)

Neither your jar nor the jug will become empty!

Prayer:

Lord, help me to see with your eyes and realize your grace and abundance even when it seems I am lacking.  Help me to stretch beyond my own limitations, to seek You, and to lean on your promises!

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Good Morning, I love you all!
